BREAKING: Sevilla defender joins Barcelona

Spanish giants Barcelona has confirmed the signing of Clement Lenglet from Sevilla for a reported fee of €35.9million.

 The French international is set to sign a five-year contract with the Catalans. The highly-rated defender had long been identified as a Barca target, with reports linking him with a move for much of last season. The 23-year-old made the switch to Spain in January 2017, leaving Nancy, for whom he was captain – and seamlessly fitting into Jorge Sampaoli's team.

 Even after Sampaoli's departure, Lenglet continued to be a mainstay under Eduardo Berizzo, Vincenzo Montella and Joaquin Caparros last term, featuring 35 times in LaLiga.

Barca reportedly stepped up their pursuit upon the conclusion of last season and were said to be eager to avoid paying Lenglet's release clause, which was rumoured to be in the region of €35million.

 But Sevilla held firm, with director of football Caparros and president Jose Castro insisting on numerous occasions they were unwilling to negotiate with Barca, telling them to pay the release clause or forget about Lenglet.

 He becomes the fifth centre-back in Barca's first-team squad, but Thomas Vermaelen, Samuel Umtiti and Yerry Mina have all been the subjects of transfer speculation.

 Lenglet's buy out clause at Barca will be valued at €300m.

Tanzanian out-fit Simba SC have announced the signing of Zambian midfielder Clatous Chota Chama on a two year deal from Lusaka dynamos.  The midfielder has been linked with a move away from the big spenders. Chama joined the Lusaka based club last year after his short stint in Egypt.  A source at Lusaka dynamos has however said the player has moved without the permission of the Club.  "The club is not aware of the deal and will not issue him with the International transfer certificate (ITC) since no transfer fee has been paid, " The source said.  Zambia international will however leave for Turkey with his new team as they start their pre-season in preparation for a new season.

CECAFA Cup final: Kagere starts for Simba as Azam looks to defend title

Meddie Kagere has been handed a starting role for Simba in the CECAFA Cup final match against Azam.  The former Gor Mahia striker will lead the attacks alongside Marcel Kahenza and Mohamed Rashid. Kagere has two goals so far in the tournament. A penalty well - taken against APR of Rwanda and a semi-final lone strike against Jeshi La Kujenga Uchumi.  Azam, the title defenders will look to overcome Simba test in the evening in an all Tanzania affair at the National Stadium.  Simba Starting XI: 1.
